PORT HOPE, ON – In response to Ontario’s Action Plan: Responding to COVID-19 and questions from constituents, MPP David Piccini has put together a website for businesses and individuals that outlines resources and supports available from the provincial and federal governments. The website and resources within are designed to help people and employers access and navigate what assistance is available.

“I know the impacts of COVID-19 are being felt by families and businesses of NorthumberlandPeterborough South,” said MPP David Piccini. “People don’t care what level of Government helps them, they just want help now. That is why I designed this website in the hope that this will be a useful resource in helping people navigate the turbulent waters we are going through, together.”

The Government of Ontario has taken a proactive approach to working with the Federal Government to launch complimentary programs and collectively launched the largest economic support package in Canada’s history.

The government's action plan is a first step in its response to COVID-19 and includes $7 billion in additional resources for the health care system and direct support for people and jobs. It also will make available $10 billion in support for people and businesses through tax and other deferrals to improve their cash flow, protecting jobs and household budgets.

This $17 billion response is a critical first step to ensure our health care system, communities and economy are positioned to weather the challenges ahead. Linking these supports with the Federal supports available, the website outlines key initiatives from both levels of Government to support people, families, workers and employers.
